Foreshores facelift is in your hands, so speak up

THERE can be no underestimating how important it is for as many people as possible to make the effort to not only have a look at the plans for the Jetty, but to tell the council what you make of what you see.

It has been a long time coming and I know many people believe Coffs has suffered due to the years of inaction on the Jetty.

Of course the decision in March of Crs Cowling, Arkan, Degens, Sultana and Townley to extend the exhibition period from the standard 28 days to three months means the wait for work to start is far from over.

It was a decision which still puzzles many, given the high priority council candidates, and in particular John Arkan, gave to kick-starting the Jetty makeover prior to last September's election.

You have to wonder if it was payback from some who had their plan to move the skate park from Brelsford Park rolled a week earlier. Whatever their motive it is imperative that the Jetty plans now get everyone's full attention.

I, for one, am as resolute now as I was 20 years ago that a well-considered makeover of the Jetty is crucial for our community and our future.
