Footy legends a real score

FOOTBALL greats Mal Meninga and Sam Kekovich certainly made an impression on the people of Bundaberg on Friday night when they reduced many local residents to tears – tears of laughter, that is.

The Sam and Mal Show whirled into the Burnett Heads Lighthouse Hotel and publican Gavin Hales said the pair had the packed house in stitches from the moment they started speaking.

Mr Hales said there were two highlights of the evening.

“The show was the funniest I have ever come across, especially Sam, he had people cracking up and crying with laughter,” he said.

“The other great part was Mal Meninga – he won Origin two days ago and was here 'til stumps having a beer and a chat with all the locals – it was like he was at his own local pub, he really fitted in with everyone.

“It was an absolutely sensational night.”
