Footy is back for 2010

IT’S been 202 days since Sawtell raised the Group 2 premiership shield but this afternoon the long wait rugby league fans have endured for the season to finally start is over.

Today, Nambucca Heads start their road back towards being a Group 2 power with a home clash against Macleay Valley while Bellingen will be hoping their win over Port Macquarie in last year’s minor semi-final can be repeated when the two sides clash at Bellingen Park.

Tomorrow sees two bumper local derbies that should attract big crowds.

Woolgoolga play host to Orara Valley in a repeat of the 2008 grand final while old-foes Sawtell and Coffs Harbour go toe-to-toe at Advocate Park in what is the match of the round.

For all of the Group 2 teams and a preview of the Comets and Panthers clash, turn to page 62.

And best of all there is only 155 days until we find out who the 2010 champion is.
