POLICE are investigating an alleged assault where a man driving a motorised scooter was hit in the face with a walking stick in Coffs Harbour today.

The incident unfolded in West High St just before 11.50am.

Police have been told the man on the scooter became involved in a dispute with a walker.

The 47-year-old on the scooter was then struck to the face with a walking stick.

Ambulance paramedics took the man to Coffs Harbour Base Hospital to receive treatment for a facial injury. 

Inquiries are continuing.
