Football feast as best boys in NNSW flock to C.ex Stadium
OVER 250 of Northern NSW's best young male footballers are in Coffs Harbour this long weekend for the annual Telstra State Championships for Boys.
Sides from North Coast Football will contest the 11 and 12 years divisions at C.ex Coffs International Stadium.
"Northern NSW Football is proud to host the championships which will showcase the best young male footballers around," NNSWF chief executive officer David Eland said.
"The weekend will provide North Coast Football's talented male footballers the opportunity to test themselves against fellow Northern NSW players.
"The championships are a critical tool used to gauge talent from within our member zones.
"They provide a valuable opportunity for our technical panel to identify talented young players who possess the ability to progress to the next level in their playing career."
First matches commence at 8.30am today with matches played simultaneously on two separate fields.
North Coast Football kicks off the campaign first up with the 12-years team facing under-11 Emerging Jets, while the 11-years squad will meet Far North Coast at 9:25am.
The presentation of medallions will take place at 2pm on Monday.
The Telstra State Championships for Boys is the first of NNSWF's major tournaments to be conducted at the stadium this year.
NNSWF will also host Westfield National Youth Championships for Girls in July, the FFA National Youth Championships for Boys in October and the Telstra State Championships for Girls in September.
