Flood warning issued for Clarence Valley

THE Bureau of Meteorology has issued a minor flood warning for the Clarence River this morning. 

Flood peaks are progressing down the Clarence River and its tributaries. River levels along the Clarence River at Grafton, Ulmarra and Maclean may peak near minor flood levels early Wednesday afternoon with the high tide.

A moderate flood warning is current for the Orara River.

Clarence River:
Minor flooding may occur along the Clarence River.

The Clarence River at Grafton (Prince St) may peak near the minor flood level (2.10 m) around 02:00 pm Wednesday with the high tide.

The Clarence River at Ulmarra may peak near the minor flood level (2.10 m) around 02:00 pm Wednesday with the high tide.

The Clarence River at Maclean may peak near the minor flood level (1.60 m) around midday Wednesday with the high tide.

Flood waters peaked at Glenreagh on Tuesday evening. Glenreagh is expected to fall below the moderate flood level this afternoon. Moderate flooding is occurring at Coutts Crossing. Further rises are possible.

Moderate flooding is occurring along the Orara River at Coutts Crossing and Glenreagh.

The Orara River at Glenreagh Automatic Gauge is currently at 8.9 metres and falling with minor flooding.

The Orara River at Glenreagh Bridge (manual flood gauge) peaked near 8.30 metres around 11:00 pm Tuesday with moderate flooding.

The Orara River at Coutts Crossing is expected to peak near 10.50 metres around 05:00 pm Wednesday with moderate flooding.

ORARA RIVER - Latest BOM warning (8.30am)

Moderate flooding is occurring along the Orara River at Glenreagh and Coutts Crossing.

The Orara River at Glenreagh Automatic Gauge is currently at 10.08 metres and falling with moderate flooding.

The Orara River at Glenreagh Bridge (manual flood gauge) peaked near 8.30 metres around 11:00 pm Tuesday with moderate flooding.

The Orara River at Coutts Crossing is expected to peak near 10.10 metres around 05:00 pm Wednesday with moderate flooding.

 

HIGHWAY CLOSURES

Summerland Way between Avenue Road, Ellangowan and Clarence Way  

Motorists travelling between Grafton and Casino can use Big River Way, Pacific Hwy and Bruxner Hwy as an alternative route. This is suitable for all vehicles and motorists are advised to allow around 60 minutes extra travel time.    

 

FERRY SERVICE

Lawrence (Bluff Point) and Ulmarra ferry are out of service due to flood waters. Please use alternative routes.
