Firm digs deep for basketball

LOCAL firm John Lacey Earthmoving has become the major sponsor of the 2010 Youth League men’s team.

Entering the State-wide competition for just the second time ever, the Youth League team is most appreciative of John and Paula Lacey’s support for the program.

“This very important sponsorship is a wonderful surprise for the boys,” Youth team coach Laurie Van Loo said.

“During this season we will have to travel south to play Newcastle, Central Coast Crusaders, Maitland, Central Coast Power, and Cessnock.

“The cost of travel and accommodation is expensive and when added to the nomination fee, training costs and uniform expenses, our involvement in Youth League is very much determined by the overall cost to the players.

“This financial support will go a long way to covering the costs for our team. With just Grafton in our local area, our nearest game is a four-hour drive, so the added funds will be a real boost to player enthusiasm.

“Our thanks to Paula and John for their magnificent support”.

Local fans will have to wait a couple more weeks before they see the Lacey Earthmoving Youth league boys in action.

On May 22 the team takes on Maitland Mustangs and on Sunday, May 23 they face off against Central Coast Power with both games at Sportz Central.
