Firies urge residents to shut doors and windows

FIRE and emergency services officers are urging residents in Coonarr and Kinkuna to shut their doors and windows.

The smoke alert was issued about 11.40am as local firefighters perform a hazard reduction burn at Coonarr.
This burn is one of many undertaken throughout the 2017 fire season to help prevent large-scale and uncontrolled bushfires from engulfing the region.
