Fire that destroyed car ruled not suspicious by police

A HOLDEN Commodore which caught fire between Monday and Tuesday morning has been destroyed by the blaze.

Gladstone police received a call about the car fire at 2.30am on Tuesday.

The late-model Commodore was on fire on Alf O'Rourke Dr.

Originally thought to have been a suspicious fire, Gladstone CIB Detective Senior Sergeant Luke Peachey said it had appeared not to be the case, with the matter being withdrawn on Tuesday afternoon.

Regardless of how the blaze started, the damage to the vehicle was extensive, with the fire gutting the interior of the sedan.

It left a smouldering wreck behind.
