Fire crews extinguish caravan fire at Nambucca Heads

UPDATE 3PM: A CARAVAN caught fire at Nambucca Heads this afternoon. 

Fire crews were called to the Aukaka Caravan Park, west of the Pacific Highway near the Nambucca Plaza, just before 1pm.  

Firefighters arrived to find the mobile home, which was vacant at the time, engulfed in flames.  

The fire was brought under control a short time later and investigations are continuing into the cause.  

12.55PM: FIRE crews are responding to a reported fire at a caravan park at Nambucca Heads. 

Members of the public alerted the NSW Fire and Rescue station to large amounts of smoke over the Aukaka Caravan Park at 12.50pm.

Police said it is unknown whether a caravan is on fire or whether a blaze has been lit in nearby bushfire.
