Festive donation for local ‘orphans’

IT'S GOING to be an especially merry lunch at the Orphan's Christmas this year, thanks to a donation from the Coffs Harbour Senior Citizens Club.

Club president Dorothy Lockhart met with Orphan's Christmas founder and organiser Julie Ferguson at the Cavanbah Centre this week to donate boxes of toys and food.

Ms Lockhart established the Christmas collection at the seniors' club seven years ago and it has thrived ever since, with many members providing donations.

"Everyone starts putting their hand out and goods start coming in around August each year," MsLockhart said.

"It's something I just like to do and I get everybody on board and they just like doing it."

The club has donated to other local charities through the years, including the Salvation Army, St Vincent de Paul and Lifehouse.

To book your seat at the Orphan's Christmas, phone Julie on 0421430175 or 66529058.
