Festival brings home the bacon for charity

THIS year's BaconFest has helped raise $16,000 for South Burnett farmers doing it tough.

The Kingaroy BaconFest Committee will be presenting the cheque at 10.30am tomorrow, Thursday November 14 at the Kingaroy Town Hall Forecourt to Graham House Community Centre.

The money will support the region's drought affected farmers as well as the local farmers who are struggling in the wake of October's storms.

The impressive figure was raised solely from festival goers who gave generously as they entered the BaconFest Food Market.

It was estimated 8,000 people attended this years inaugural Kingaroy BaconFest back in August 2018.

"One of the biggest goals of BaconFest is to encourage visitors to the region to return and to give back to the community in anyway we can,” Chief Baconeer, Kathryn Stevens said.

The general public are invited to attend tomorrow's event as a special announcement about the future of the Kingaroy BaconFest will also be made after the cheque is presented.
