Ferry McFerryface now taking passengers on Sydney Harbour

FERRY McFerryface has officially started operations on Sydney Harbour, despite almost not launching due to it's controversial name.

Crew members only agreed to operate the vessel after being guaranteed that the name will eventually be changed, according to 7 News.

The latest edition to Sydney's ferry fleet was named by the Australian public through the Name Your Ferry competition run by Transport NSW.

The vessel's registered name is actually Emerald 6, with McFerryface being a kind of nickname.

"It's got the name Emerald 6. It's not going to have that other stupid name going for 30 odd years, this is just a temporary arrangement over summer," Maritime Union of Australia's Paul Garrett told 7 News.
