Fast recovery for candidate

A DAY after her surgery last Tuesday, Greens candidate for Cowper Carol Vernon was back on the election campaign trail attending a candidates forum in Port Macquarie.

Mrs Vernon said she has been recovering well post surgery with daily home visits from district nurses assessing her recovery.

Looking back on the eight-week campaign, Mrs Vernon said the late announcement of independent candidate Rob Oakeshott running for the seat was a pleasant surprise.

“The appearance of Rob Oakeshott is really good. People are ready for a change,” she said.

On election day this Saturday, Mrs Vernon said about 180 volunteers will be operating 59 booths across the electorate encouraging voters to vote for the Greens.

Mrs Vernon said her party will be preferencing the Labor candidate Damian Wood first followed by independent candidates Rob Oakeshott and John Arkan.
