Farmers need help: Coffs MP

COFFS Harbour MP Andrew Fraser has spoken out in State Parliament, asking for more assistance for farmers and small businesses following the devastating storm that hit the Coffs Coast on March 31.

“Whilst I am grateful for the assistance that has already been made available, I believe there is a great need for further assistance to farmers and small businesses by way of grants,” Fraser told MPs in the House yesterday.

“Many farmers already struggling financially have had to replace fencing, culverts and bridges so that they can continue operating.

“There are numerous small business operators who are still waiting on the outcome of their insurance claims and the financial cost to them of replacing damaged stock, office equipment and fixture and fittings has been substantial.”
