Far West op shop needs your help

IF you have three hours to spare, the Royal Far West Children's Health Scheme needs you.

The Coffs Harbour branch of the scheme is desperate for more volunteers to help in their Murdock Street opportunity shop, which raises thousands of dollars to provide free specialist medical and dental care in Sydney for country children under 16 who need it.

Branch publicity officer Jill Gill said the work involved sorting and preparing for sale donations of clothing and goods and no washing or ironing was involved.

“The shop is ideal for retirees,” Mrs Gill said.

“And we have jobs for men and women. We have a lot of older members and some people have left.

“What we would like is some able-bodied people willing to commit to doing a three and a half hour shift every week.

“We would specially like to invite past patients or families of past and current patients to help - more than 50 children from the district received free medical treatment through the scheme in the past year.”

The Far West shop is located at 1 Murdock Street and opens 9am to 4pm Monday to Friday. Inquiries to shop manager Lola on 6651 2128.
