Fa'oaso facing ban for taking down Titans' Ashley Harrison

MANLY hit man Richie Fa'oaso faces the prospect of three weeks on the sidelines if he accepts a grade three dangerous tackle charge for his hit on Titans veteran Ashley Harrison on Saturday night.

The Queensland Origin rep was playing his 250th game, but remembered little of the contest after being knocked unconscious by a shoulder charge from Fa'oaso in the 35th minute.

Titans coach John Cartwright said the NRL needed to address the situation after his team was forced to play a man down for the rest of the game, suggesting the introduction of an 18th man be considered.

Fa'oaso apologised to Harrison after the match, saying he had simply forgotten the shoulder charge had been banned in the off-season.

Fellow Manly forward Brent Kite, Brisbane's Matt Gillett and Cronulla prop Ben Ross were also charged by the NRL match review committee.

Kite and Ross can both escape suspension with early guilty pleas to grade one dangerous contact charges, while Gillett can plead guilty to a grade one careless high tackle charge and still be free to play this week.
