Fantastic for family, friends & furry fido

MAHANA and her owners Kelvin and Colette Harris have taken out the award for Best Pet Friendly Accommodation in the State.

Safety Beach Ocean Bungalows won the State award in the third annual TakeABreak.com.au Awards.

“It's excellent,” Kelvin said.

The couple took over the bungalows in June 2008 and quickly added two new cottages to accommodate travellers with pets.

“We've come a long way very quickly,” Kelvin added.

The awards recognise properties who have provided outstanding product and exceptional service in their individual categories. They are selected from more than 13,000 properties listed on the site, with shortlisted candidates having guest ratings of 4/5 or better. Kelvin said that not all guests who stay with them have a pet but '95 per cent' do.

There were 18 categories in total with Safety Beach Ocean Bungalows being named the overall State winner in the Best Pet Friendly Accommodation.

National winners of the 2009 TakeABreak Best Places to Stay Awards will be named in November. Judges look at relevance to the category, information provided to guests, service provided and personal guest feedback.
