Fans will be on a high for Stadium MX

SODS and sawdust will start turning today at Coffs Harbour Showground as preparations enter the home straight for next weekend's sixth annual StadiumMX extravaganza.

The January 10 event is the biggest of the year and thousands are tipped to surround the arena for 12 hours of motocross entertainment presented by Coffs Harbour Motorcycle Club.

Over 350 riders have already entered to compete, from 50cc demos to pro and quad classes, and the mix of competitors brings the fans out to cheer on their favourites.

Club publicist Donna Craig says gates open at 9am to watch the final practise sessions, with the main action under way from 10am.

"Track building will start today with completion through the week," Donna said.

"Grids for the junior classes are filling up with titleholders from NSW and Australia-level attending."

Top class Port Macquarie-based enduro rider Chris Hollis is set to attend again.

This year, Chris finished second in the pro open and won the shootout and wants to do even better this time.

Other top pro riders who have entered include Daniel McCoy, Luke Clout, Trent Wheatley and Sam Duncanson.

Riders of this standard use the annual Coffs StadiumMX to tune up for the MX Nationals and Australian Supercross.

Tickets are available at the entry gate with a special family package of two adults and three children for $60.

A variety of rides, merchandise and food vendor stands will surround the arena.

To make sure it's family-friendly, this is an alcohol-free venue.

The club is also seeking volunteer flag marshals to help out, so if you would like to assist and watch the racing up close, email or SMS 0418 242 358.
