Family to join 560km Cycle Queensland Adventure Tour
A TOOWOOMBA family is participating in a 560km ride around the Darling Downs.
The annual Cycle Queensland Adventure Tour attracts cyclists of all levels and ages who are looking for an outback adventure tour with a twist.
The event is described as luxury camping on wheels.
Participants pedal at their own pace from town to town and arrive at their campsite with meals, entertainment and accommodation.
Married couple Kim and Jack Passante along with Mrs Passante's brothers Paul and William Jeffery are taking on the nine-day ride.
Mrs Passante and her husband have participated in four cycle tours in the past and she said it was a great experience.
"For me, it's about being able to do something fun with my husband and being able to get together with my brothers," Mrs Passante said.
"It's really fun and you get to meet a whole lot of new people along the way," she said.
More than 1000 riders are expected to take part in the adventure tour.
Mrs Passante has been preparing herself for the ride by cycling 50km a week.
"You don't have to be overly fit, but you do have to have some training behind you," she said.
The tour kicks off in Toowoomba on Saturday, September 5.
If you would like to be a part of the event you must register before Friday on the Cycle Queensland website.
