Fair committee in place

WITH a new committee in place and raring to go, the 2010 Orara Valley Fair is well and truly back on the calendar for June 14.

At a special general meeting held on Wednesday, Doug Hoschke was elected as the new president of the Fair Committee Inc., with Paul Phillips as vice-president and Diane Hoschke as secretary.

Other new members of the organising committee and helpers include Christine and John Irvine and Kevin Ingersoll, who will join continuing members Beryl Kellett and Lyn McGuire.

The fair’s new treasurer is expected to be announced shortly.

Early inquiries about stalls or volunteers interested in offering help with the fair can contact Lyn McGuire at Karangi General Store.

The Orara Valley Fair combines traditional and children’s games, rural displays and activities, live entertainment and stalls.

It has been held for more than 30 years at the Upper Orara Reserve on Dairyville Road on the Queen’s Birthday holiday Monday.

A non-profit community-run family event, the fair raises money to support the Upper Orara Hall and Reserve, also run by community groups plus local charities.
