Facebook posting led to arrest

A WOMAN who aided an armed robbery in Ipswich was caught after her partner posted their location on Facebook.

Ava Marie Dawson was the getaway driver for her boyfriend Shane Lewis Aitken when he held up a Tivoli convenience store, which was around the corner from his mother’s home.

Aitken escaped with $500.

The couple fled interstate but were quickly arrested after Aitken posted on Facebook saying they were on their way to Canberra.

Dawson’s boyfriend Shane Lewis Aitken, 26, was sentenced in May to three years jail, released immediately, taking into account 301 days spent in custody.

Barrister Peter Nolan yesterday told Ipswich District Court the couple was still together.

Mr Nolan argued 138 days that Dawson, 29, had already spent in custody was enough punishment.

Dawson pleaded guilty and her case was adjourned to August 26.
