Fabulous five prepare to take on the world

FIVE Coffs Harbour teenagers are preparing for the trip of a lifetime.

The girls will take off on Sunday, November 23, on a six week overseas basketball tour as members of the East Coast Dunkeroos.

Courtney Martyn, Ruby Mayson, Ashley Markham and Bronte Emanuel are not new to representative basketball on the local scene but have never played overseas before, whereas Aimee Durbidge will be making her second overseas trip with the Dunkeroos.

The girls will play most of their games in high school tournaments in the United States of America, while others will be played in Europe.

Countries to be visited include Taiwan, Germany, Italy, San Marino, Vatican City and Slovenia.

As well as the excitement of sightseeing and shopping the girls will take in a Women's European Cup game in Venice, Italy.

Then it's across to the States for NBA games in Dallas and Oklahoma City as well as attending College games in New Mexico and Oklahoma.

Christmas will be spent on the ski fields of New Mexico while New Year's Eve will be celebrated at Disneyland in California.

Local basketball identities Les Gough will act as assistant coach and tour manager with Laurie Van Loo as team manageress.
