Eyes on Bellingen art prize

THE Coast’s artists have only a little more than two months to prepare their entries for the eighth annual Bellingen Art Prize.

One of the richest and most prestigious art competitions in the region, the prize is run by the Bellingen Community Arts Council and will be held from October 1-8 at the Memorial Hall.

For artists the lure is the major prize of $5000. Other prizes totalling $6000 will also be presented

Categories being contested will include works on paper, painting, 3D, photographic and digital.

This year’s judges are the Cessnock Regional Art Gallery director Virginia Mitchell, and artists Ian Grant and Madeline Winch.

Entries close on Friday, August 27, and forms can be obtained from Nexus Gallery, the Bellingen, Dorrigo and Urunga libraries or at www.bcac.org.au.
