EXCLUSIVE: Ginia Rinehart and Coast groom ‘extremely happy’

IT'S official, Ginia Rinehart has tied the knot with the man from Nambour who stole her heart, Simon Robinson.

And Simon's dad, Ted Robinson, has told the Daily the couple area "extremely happy".

Mr Robinson joked he was "camping in the back of Yandina".

Instead he, first wife and Simon's mother, Marilyn and his wife, Phillipa, as well as the rest of the family are staying at Hamilton Island's exclusive Qualia resort.

Mr Robinson said it was a "beautiful weekend".

He said Australia's richest woman Gina Rinehart had made the Robinson family "very welcome".

"They are the nicest people you could ever meet and they have made us wonderfully welcome," Mr Robinson said.

"It was a wonderful wedding and they are very happy together."

Mr Robinson also set the record straight about how the couple met.

"He was never her bodyguard," Mr Robinson said.

"And he has never worked for the family."

Media has consistently reported Simon, who was in the armed forces, had met Ginia when working as her bodyguard.

"This was never the case," he said.

While declining to discuss Simon's involvement in the armed forces, Mr Robinson said he had worked as an electrician on the Sunshine Coast first.

He has also revealed Simon was a scrawny young man, but boxing changed his life.

He trained with Sunshine Coast boxing legend, Darren Obah and his first fight was against the champion of Queensland and "he beat him".
