Excitement ramping up for Emerald Fair

EMERALD Beach will be turned into a fairground next week as the annual Emerald Beach Fair takes over the village reserve.

People are primping their pooches, baking cakes and honing their sand-modelling skills ahead of the event on Sunday, May 26.

More than 6000 people made their way to the 2012 event and publicity officer Ken Kennedy said they're expecting similar numbers this year.

"Things are looking great," Mr Kennedy said.

"At the moment we're looking for people to enter their cakes in the yummy cake competition.

"Registration for the competition will take place at the cake tent at 9am, with judging done by Saltwater Restaurant's head chef Dan at 11.45am."

Coffs Harbour Mayor Denise Knight will officially open the fair at 10.30am.

Coffs City Skydivers are scheduled to dive into the event and the annual Moonee Vet - Brontosaurus Pooch Parade is also set to be a hit.
