Erika Simons to perform at gallery

CATCH the stunning voice of coloratura soprano Erika Simons in her first performance at Coffs Harbour Regional Gallery this Saturday.

This Sydney-based singer is a star in the making according to gallery director/curator Dr Leigh Summers.

“Erika has already had live concert performances on ABC Radio and she is well on the way to being an international player,” said Dr Summers.

“She is a coloratura soprano which is a rare and magnificent thing – her golden voice is just wonderful to listen to and is something not to be missed.”

Coloratura sopranos specialise in a repertoire with elaborate melodies that run and leap, seemingly effortlessly, but requires years of special training to achieve this.

Erika is currently at the Sydney Conservatorium’s School of Opera and her performance will feature the works of Grieg, Puccini, Mozart, Massenet, Verdi and Offenbach. She will be accompanied by pianist Chad Vindin.

The event is sponsored by LMA Marilyn Brien, Sydney University’s Conservatorium of Music and Country Energy. The gallery will welcome guests from 7.15pm for a 7.30pm start.

Tickets are $25 and includes refreshments on arrival. Bookings are essential.
