Entries open for running festival

PREPARATIONS continue for the 2015 Bendigo Bank Coffs Harbour Running Festival to be held on Sunday, September 6.

Village Sports and event co-director Mick Maley said promotion had begun with a direct focus on bringing elite athletes and tourists to the region.

Apart from attracting participation, the publicity generated for the Coffs Coast as a business and holiday destination is enormous.

"I hope everybody is healthy and happy and into their training programs in preparation for the big event," Mick said.

"At this stage of proceedings we have had three advertisements in Runners World and two in Run 4 Your Life.

"Both national running magazines are promoting the event with more programmed leading up to September.

"Our media partners are once again on board with some very generous support towards the event and are gearing up their schedules.

"Posters have been printed and ready to go, so business houses should expect a visit from us in the very near future.

"We very much appreciate those displayed in windows and work places."

Entry into this year's running festival has opened online at villagesports.com.au and Mick said there had again been a very positive response from early participants.

"We are out there in the running community and have added a new beneficiary to our list.

"Prostate Cancer Awareness will be appropriate as the festival will be held on Father's Day.

"This might encourage people affected by prostate cancer in some way to get involved with one of the runs or walks.

"There's no better way to enjoy Father's Day with an early morning trot or walk with the family."
