Enjoy the culture and theatrics

THE new season of Jetty Memorial Theatre productions has been officially launched.

Challenging you to enjoy the diversity of theatre experiences on offer this year, theatre manager Craig Higgs has collated a program of events rarely seen in Coffs Harbour.

“It’s about having different experiences when you come to the theatre,” Mr Higgs said.

‘Experience’ is the title of this season’s program which adds contemporary dance, a chamber orchestra and cabaret theatre to the usual offerings of local and touring dramatic productions and comedy shows.

“Cabaret is booming across Australia – look at the Adelaide Cabaret Festival, directed by David Campbell – and this is such a perfect venue,” he said.

“We’re starting to get a reputation – the Jetty Memorial Theatre is an intimate venue on the east coast touring route. We’ve got The Platters coming in March from Vegas – the manager wanted somewhere intimate and this is perfect.”

Cabaret productions such as The Bad Boys of Music Theatre: Andrew Strano and John Franklin and CHATS Production’s The Invisible Woman will see the usual seating replaced with tables, chairs and glasses of wine. Visit www.jettytheatre.com.au.
