Enjoy gift of giving

THE Christmas rush is on and the spirit of giving is alive and well – but there’s still people who need help.

The Global Financial Crisis has hit many in our community hard and more people than ever need support during the Christmas period.

From now until Wednesday, December 23, shoppers can help make Christmas better for someone less fortunate by giving to the UnitingCare Christmas Appeal.

Shoppers are being asked to buy an extra gift when purchasing for their loved ones at any Target store. Simply take a gift tag off the tree to either buy or make a gift, or purchase a gift card from the check out.

UnitingCare will then allocate a gift to a person in need. All gifts go to local people living in the local community.

Now in its 18th year, the appeal aims to brighten Christmas with 150,000 gifts for people with disabilities, vulnerable children, older people, families in crisis and those who have suddenly fallen on hard times.
