Emphatic win keeps Northern NSW in the hunt for glory

THE Northern NSW 15 Years Girls will face off against their fellow group leaders this afternoon for the chance at topping the group on the final day of the National Youth Championships for Girls.

The local girls continued to demonstrate their dominance on the fourth day at C.ex Coffs International Stadium with a comprehensive 7-0 victory over Northern Territory.

With the match just two minutes old, Northern NSW's Esther Ting scored the first of the seven goals with teammate Georgia Minors adding a second on 21 minutes.

Northern NSW took a two goal lead into the halftime break and Hannah Bourke, Renee Pountney and Phoebe Cave each scored one, with Breanna Steadman achieving a brace to put the second half goal tally to five.

Northern NSW 13 Years Girls were unable to turn their two match winning streak into three this morning following a narrow 1-0 defeat to Queensland.

Despite chances at either end of the field throughout the first half, the score remained gridlocked and goalless at nil apiece entering the halftime break.

With both sides seeking a goal to take the lead, it was Queensland who finally broke the deadlock on 52 minutes through a goal to Emileigh Bowman.
