Emma lining up against the best

FORMER Coffs Coast Olympic bronze medallist Emma Moffatt will wear number 11 in today's ITU World Series Triathlon event on the Gold Coast.

Emma will oppose fellow Aussie and London Olympic bronze medallist Erin Densham and reigning world champion Gwen Jorgensen of the USA.

The women's race will start at 11am with the men taking off at 2pm on a course set around the Broadwater Parklands, opposite the Gold Coast Aquatic Centre.

All the top 20 female triathletes on current world rankings will participate.

After a disappointing start to the series in the opening race in Abu Dhabi, Emma bounced back to form over the torturous Auckland course with the result catapulting her back into the top-10 rankings.

The now 30-year-old needed all her grit and determination to finish sixth in her first start over the international Olympic distance since last year's Commonwealth Games.

She said the first race left her pondering the future but the New Zealand outing filled her with confidence for the return to home soil.
