Emergency planning workshop for seniors and services

NO LOCAL area is prone to flood emergencies like the Bellinger Valley when the rains tumble down.

Seniors and aged care service providers can be at most risk unless some simple strategies are observed.

To help increase local knowledge of how the risks from floods and storms can be reduced, Bellingen Shire Council and NSW State Emergency Services have organised a free planning workshop for Tuesday, July 18, just for seniors and and aged care services.

Participants will learn how floods, storms and even tsunamis could affect them, while receiving tips on how to set up a home emergency plan and kit for emergencies.

All participants will receive information on future predictions, a Floodsafe brochure and a copy of the RediPlan disaster preparedness guide provided by the Red Cross.

Bellingen Golf Club with play host with an arrival time of 9.30am for a 10am start.

Tea, coffee and sandwiches will be provided.

Places are limited and RSVP is essential.

Contact Bellingen Shire Council on 66557300 to register.
