Emerald’s fun family affair

MARK Sunday May 29 in your diaries for the annual Emerald Beach Community Fair, which this year features a host of competitions for adults and children alike.

The countdown is on for the family-orientated community event that caters for a variety of local foods, arts and crafts.

New this year is the Watermelon Speed Eating Competition, with categories for children and adults, along with the Glam Prams and Decorated Bikes competitions, supported by Woodseys Wheels in Woolgoolga.

There is a packed program of entertainment including a sand modelling competition on the beach as well as music and performances with Top Shelf and the Kulturithmik Cuban Dance Group.

Some fair favourites returning this year include the popular baking competition, with great prizes for the adult and children's winners, as well as the annual Pooch Parade and the Fling the Golden Thong.

Entries are also being sought for the annual Emerald Beach Community Fair Photo and Video competition.

Photos will be displayed on the day of the fair.

Prizes include two Go Pro Hero+LCD cameras, entries close on May 20.

Committee member Brigid Veale said the fair was a great community event, attracting both locals from the Northern Beaches and people from across the Coffs Coast.

"This is a wonderful family event in a stunning location. All the proceeds of the fair will go back into our community," Mrs Veale said.
