Elderly man struck by falling tree

A MAN has been airlifted to hospital after he was struck by a tree in the Darling Downs yesterday.

It's believed the man, aged in his eighties, was on his Western Downs property, when he was struck.

The RACQ LifeFlight rescue helicopter was called into action around 4.30pm.

The aeromedical team landed at an oval near a Western Downs hospital, to retrieve the patient.

The injured man was then flown to Toowoomba Hospital, in a stable condition, under the care of LifeFlight's Critical Care Doctor and a Queensland Ambulance Service Flight Paramedic.
