Eels shake off Foran drama to record win

RUGBY LEAGUE: The Parramatta Eels have ended a disastrous day on a high, coming from behind to down the Sydney Roosters 22-18 in a thriller at Pirtek Stadium last night.

Earlier yesterday star Eels half Kieran Foran flagged his intentions to walk away from the game to deal with personal issues.

And the news got worse for the Eels in the opening minutes against the Roosters, with Australian Test winger Semi Radradra going off with a knee injury, and Isaac De Gois also being ruled out in the first half through concussion.

But the Eels dug deep – despite being down 18-6 midway through the second half – sealing the win through a try to Clint Gutherson with five minutes remaining, and then holding out a last-gasp try from the Roosters’ Joseph Manu that was disallowed by the video referee.

Flying Roosters fullback Latrell Mitchell and Eels second-rower Manu Ma’u had earlier scored doubles for their teams.
