Educated sperm donors more attractive

ARE you a young, well-educated man?

If so, your sperm could be in high demand from women hoping to reproduce.

A Queensland University of Technology study of 1546 sperm donor choices from 2006-2015 showed most women preferred younger more educated donors.

Co-author Stephen Whyte said women had "evolved preferences for males with the ability and willingness to provide resources".

"Higher education levels in males may be seen by women as a proxy for resources," he said.

Mr Whyte said earlier research showed a preference for older male sperm donors, but this study revealed most were actually choosing young donors.

"I think our study provides important behavioural insight into the characteristics preferred by women, as this is the first ever economic analysis of actual female choice," he said.
