Save money while helping the environment

THE RACQ has launched a free online learning tool that shows motorists how to "eco-drive" to save money and the environment.

Michael Roth, RACQ executive manager, public policy, said the online learning tool was available to all motorists and took 15 minutes to complete.

"The research study identified how motorists could achieve the best savings and lowest emissions, while improving safety and reducing stress through eco-driving," Mr Roth said.

"Those who completed the training via the online tool reduced their fuel consumption by 4.6 percent, an average reduction of half a litre per 100 kilometres."

Mr Roth said the effectiveness of the online tool had been proven through RACQ's EcoDrive research study undertaken in 2012.

"The research study identified how motorists could achieve the best savings and lowest emissions, while improving safety and reducing stress through eco-driving," he said.

"The online tool ... reduces your vehicle costs and your impact on the environment."
