eBay coup for Amber's efforts
IT IS enough for even celebrity-loving but charity-fatigued locals to go all starry-eyed and maybe dig a little deeper.
Here’s the pitch – a Kin Kin girl turned Hollywood entertainment reporter hooks up with one the hottest reality TV families in America to raise money for Queensland flood victims.
And no one is more proud of seasoned red carpet interviewer Amber Bollard enlisting the clan from the hit show Keeping Up With The Kardashians, than her Kin Kin parents.
Dad Robert contacted The Gympie Times sister publictaion, the Sunshine Coast Daily asking for some coverage of Amber’s eBay auction.
Up for grabs is a signed photograph of the Kardashians – an entertainment family phenomenon which reportedly earns up to $65 million a year (so says the journal The Hollywood Reporter) just from its profile – that’s more than Angelina Jolie, Sandra Bullock and Tom Cruise combined.
Robert – one of the local residents opposing the Kin Kin quarry – was understandably proud that his daughter, despite the distractions of Tinsel Town and interviewing the likes of A-listers like Hugh Jackman, Jennifer Aniston, John Travolta and Anthony Hopkins, was so deeply affected by the flood coverage in the US.
Amber, speaking from Los Angeles, said this week she felt compelled to try and use her access to the stars to help her home state.
“I am doing the best I can to raise money for the victims of the floods from Hollywood,” Amber said.
“I reached out to the management team of the Kardashians and I asked if they would be willing to donate some autographs for the Australian floods.
“Their mother Kris Jenner, kindly obliged and sent me two autographs in the mail. One is a family portrait signed by all of them in an 8x10 glossy. The other autograph is from their step dad, Bruce Jenner winning the Olympics on the cover of Sports Illustrated.
“It is not very often, big A-listers respond so quickly,” Amber said.
And while she hopes the bidding will be as outrageous as the Kardashians’ behaviour she is making her own bid for a substantial role in front of the cameras.
The Eudlo-raised and Burnside High-educated acting hopeful, has been working as an entertainment reporter in LA for six years.
“I worked on my music, modelling and acting career, before heading off to the US to further my career,” she said.
Amber has appeared on an episode of America’s Court as well as her celebrity-reporting assignments.
But that has taken a back seat to recent devastation back home and said she is passionate about raising money for the flood victims.
The eBay listing numbers are: 170603639585 (family portrait) 170603640664 (Bruce Jenner).
Considering some of the Kardashian daughters supposedly can command three-figure appearance fees, they could be hot-ticket items.
