Easter is almost here and with it a welcome long weekend with loads of things to do.

From the Easter Fishing Classic to the Big Dig at Sawtell, there are plenty of events and activities to keep everyone occupied and amused.

There will be no Advocate on Friday and although the paper will be delivered and available on Saturday, Monday and Tuesday, our Moonee St office won’t re-open until Wednesday.

Good Friday to Easter Sunday, April 22 to 24, is the Easter Fishing Classic which includes deep sea, beach, rock and estuary fishing.

There is a compulsory competition briefing at 7pm Thursday and entries close 9am Good Friday.

There will be daily weigh-ins Friday and Saturday from 1pm-3pm and on Sunday from 11am-1pm and a Marine Rescue charity fish auction 1pm Easter Sunday at Coffs Harbour Deep Sea Fishing Club.

Don’t miss the Sawtell Beach Big Dig on Easter Sunday where kids can dig for buried treasure ($5 each), plus Dash for Cash, surf club flag race, surf rescue demonstrations, beach events and sand modelling from 10am.

All proceeds are split between Sawtell Surf Club and Coffs Harbour health campus.
