Easter Fair raffles to help Murgon clubs
NEW events always draw in a crowd, especially when there are charities involved.
This is no different with the new Murgon Easter Fair, which will debut on Friday, April 5.
Margaret Long, the secretary of the Murgon and Business Development Association, said that local organisations are getting involved and are bringing raffles to the Fair.
Mrs Long said these organisations or groups include the ambulance committee, PCYC and other social clubs.
"All the money raised from the raffles will be going back to the different organisations,” she said.
"It's good for everyone to get involved and join in, because it's helping out the community.”
Mrs Long is sure that many will attend the event, as it's the first of its kind for the region.
"At Christmas time, Kingaroy has their event and we've usually had ours,” she said.
"There's a Christmas carnival in every town, but because this is the first big Easter event, it'll hopefully attract more people from around the region and the South Burnett.”
The association also planned the event to take place on the last Friday of the school term, so that families can kickstart their holidays with some fun.
"It's a good way to end the term, and it's also a good time of year for camping. We might even have visitors from far away coming into the region and to the event,” Mrs Long said.
