Eagles coach wary ahead of All-Stars clash

WEST Coast Eagles coach Adam Simpson admits he is nervous about his star ruckman Nic Naitanui being part of the AFL All-Stars squad for Saturday night's International Rules match against Ireland in Perth.

The AFL team, which includes many of the best players in the competition, went into camp in Sydney yesterday and will play a practice match against the NSW Gaelic team tonight.

Ireland has already had a hit-out, thrashing a VFL representative side by 73 points on Sunday. Simpson said like all AFL coaches who had players involved, he was nervous about Naitanui (pictured) being injured.

"He's trained the last two weeks and he is in a good position. But if he is sore or if he is showing signs that he can't contribute, then he won't play. So we won't take any risks," Simpson said.

Brisbane Lions utility Pearce Hanley copped a knock on the jaw playing for Ireland on Sunday but is expected to play in Perth.
