Two women treated for smoke inhalation at site of grassfire
TWO women were treated for smoke inhalation and a shed destroyed in a large grassfire at Wilsons Plains, south of Ipswich
Firefighters were called to the blaze on Ellis and Jackson Rd about 1.45pm on Saturday.
Police and ambulance officers also responded to the fire, which scorched more than 10 hectares of land. A police spokesman said a 23-year-old woman and 26-year-old woman were both treated by ambulance officers.
He said there had initially been concern for some homes, however firefighters were able to contain the blaze before it caused more damage.
A Department of Communities spokeswoman said crews were able to contain the fire to about 19 hectares late Saturday afternoon.
Crews were also called to put out two separate fires on Sunday.
A small bushfire at Riverview was under control when a crew responded about 10.20am.
Ipswich rural firefighters were also called to a small grassfire at Ottaba, between Esk and Toogoolawah, about 2.30pm yesterday.
