Drugs charges after Nambucca Heads car stop

A MAN and a woman will face court today after drugs were found in a car and hotel room in Nambucca Heads on Monday afternoon.

About 1.10pm, police from Mid North Coast Local Area Command stopped a red Toyota Corolla on Mumbler St, Nambucca Heads.

Police searched the vehicle and located an amount of drugs, ammunition, a dagger, and other items. All items have been seized and will undergo forensic examination.

The driver, a 29-year-old Bowraville man, was arrested and taken to Macksville Police Station where he was charged with two counts of possess prohibited drug, two counts of supply prohibited drug, possess ammunition without permit, possess prohibited weapon without permit, and deal with property suspected proceeds of crime.

Following his arrest, police attended a hotel room on Nelson St, Nambucca Heads where they arrested a 24-year-old Macksville woman.

During a search of the hotel room, police located an amount of drugs and other paraphernalia. The items were seized and will undergo forensic examination.

She was taken to Macksville Police Station and charged with five counts of supply prohibited drug, seven counts of possess prohibited drug and take part in supply of prohibited drug.

The pair has been refused bail and will appear at Coffs Harbour Local Court today.
