Drug user turns himself in

EMOTIONS ran high in Hervey Bay Magistrates Court as a man spoke of his crippling drug addiction before being sentenced to four months in jail.

Sean Christopher Hudson, 42, pleaded guilty to possession of dangerous drugs after he was found with speed, marijuana cannabis and some needles hidden in a tube in Scarness on May 31.

The court heard Hudson was already on parole at the time of the offence, after receiving a 30-month prison sentence for previous drug-related charges in Rockhampton last year.

Hudson told the court he turned himself in to the police in Hervey Bay, in a desperate attempt at rehabilitation to overcome his addiction.

Hudson said he was concerned about the effects his addiction could have on his wife and two young daughters.

He described himself as a hard-working man who grew up on a farm but is now constantly in trouble because of drugs.
