Drug raid a success

POLICE have uncovered cannabis worth almost $520,000 and arrested a man in a raid at Bowraville.

Detective Senior Constable Dave Stuart said police stopped a man, 63, as he drove his four-wheel-drive towards them on Bellingen Road at 1pm last Friday.

They searched his car and found four bags of cannabis and cash, police allege.

They arrested him and took him to his nearby property where they conducted another search and allegedly found two cannabis crop sites, one with 114 plants and another with 138 plants.

Detectives also seized cannabis seeds, more cannabis bags and another 14 cannabis plants growing near his home.

The man was charged with supplying a prohibited drug, possessing a prohibited drug, cultivating a prohibited plant and dealing with the proceeds of crime. He was conditionally bailed to appear in Macksville Local Court on March 11.

The raid was part of the ongoing cannabis eradication program on the Mid North Coast.
