Driver more than three times legal limit charged
A MAN who lodged his car in a CBD garden bed been charged by police after an RBT found he was almost four times the legal driving limit.
Mackay police were called to Wood St just before 9pm Tuesday after reports of a traffic incident.
Senior Constable Steve Smith said officers arrived to find a Nissan Navara dual cab stuck in a garden bed outside a business.
The alleged driver, a 38-year-old man from East Mackay undertook a roadside breath test and was detained and taken to the Mackay Police Station for further testing.
Police allege the man returned a breath alcohol reading of 0.191 per cent.
He will appear in the Mackay Magistrates Court on June 29.
Snr Const. Smith said police continued to urge motorists to show "respect" for other road users.
"If you plan to drink, plan not to drive," he said.
