Driver of crashed car only left scene to get help

BARGARA Police have put Facebook reports of a driver leaving the scene of an accident to rest.

It was stated on a local Facebook page that a driver had done a "runner" after hitting a tree at the Coral Cove Golf course on Wednesday night.

A police spokesman said the 48-year-old male driver was driving a car he wasn't used to when he over-accelerated and lost control, causing the car to run in to the tree.

"The driver left the scene to get help from a mate to move the car," he said.

"He was breath tested and no alcohol was involved."
