Drive Dorrigo Mountain in day
IF you’re planning a journey up or down Dorrigo Mountain next week don’t even bother trying on Monday and Tuesday nights.
The RTA is closing the road at Sherrard Falls from 10pm to 4am both nights to complete vital drainage work in the wake of last year’s major landslips.
A $1.25 million project is in full swing on Waterfall Way to repair the damage and fix drainage. The work is expected to last until the end of the year.
The RTA has been building new drains near Sherrard Falls for the past fortnight, forcing regular night closures of the road.
Drainage and minor slip repairs are scheduled at Newell Falls later this month.
“Slope work, including the building of retaining walls at Sherrard Falls, is expected to start in August with some of the work being carried out at night to reduce the impact on traffic,” a spokesman said.
“This work will require the full closure of the road Monday to Friday between 10pm and 4am for three weeks.
“Message signs and traffic lights are currently in place with one-lane traffic flows at Sherrard Falls.
“These traffic control measures will remain in place until the slips are repaired.”
