Drinking driver nabbed

AN 18-year-old Coffs Harbour man was lucky to escape injury after he crashed his car on the way home from the pub - and he was over the limit.

The man had been drinking at a local hotel when he decided to drive home, travelling south on the Pacific Highway before attempting to turn right into Knox Street.

He failed to negotiate the turn, ploughing into a drain.

Police attended the scene where the man was charged with driving with a mid-range PCA.
